Test post
Congratulations to the 11 pupils from 2nd class and their 4 colleagues from Dromagh N.S. who received their First Holy Communion in St. John’s, Dromagh last Saturday May 8th. The beautiful ceremony was a credit to all involved.
We marked the inaugural National Music Day today with a very special concert.
The County Cork School of Music Intermediate Band came to perform for us. This brass & woodwind ensemble has thirty members, including St. Brendan’s past pupil Mairead O’Neill & Anthony Murphy from Dromagh.
We began the concert by entertaining the visitors with the Cork Hornpipe, Titanic Theme, An Coileach ag Fógairt an Lae, and our ‘Theme Tune’ The Water is Wide. Here is a selection of excerpts:

Then it was the turn of the Intermediate Band. They explained each of their instruments with a short solo, and entertained us with a selection of familiar tunes – Funky Town, Home Alone, Irish Airs, themes from the New World Symphony and finally Bohemian Rhapsody. We were amazed at the skill and talent of the performers, and had great difficulty picking just three short extracts to include in the podcast.

Happy listening!
We are currently engaged in updating a number of school policies, and will be posting them on the website for review and comment.
Drafts of our revised Child Protection Policy and Code of Behaviour and Discipline (incorporating the Anti-Bullying Policy) have been uploaded, and can be accessed at
http://stbrendansrathcoole.webs.com/SchoolPolicies.html
If you would like to comment on any aspect of these policies, click on the Policies tab at the top of the page.
Two head- of- family notes (regarding Stay Safe permission and Drama Classes) were sent home today. Please check with your eldest child as both require premission slips to be returned to the school.
Third and Fourth Class have just launched their new blog. It has useful links to educational websites, and this week’s Irish Reading as a podcast. Go n-eirí an t-ádh libh!
The builders are currently repairing burst pipes and fallen ceilings, and drying out soggy carpet. Our school is still a cold, damp building site, so it wouldn’t be a safe environment for any of us! Looking forward to getting back on Monday 18th…
We’d love to be back, but we can’t get to school just yet. Hope the thaw comes soon, and we will be back to normal on Thursday.
Take lots of pictures of your fun in the snow – hopefully we won’t experience a winter like this for a long time again!
We haven’t been updating our news section because our satellite Broadband makes it extremely difficult to upload anything from school.
Hopefully the new rollout of Schools’ Broadband will give us adequate bandwidth to blog successfully!
